A family is as healthy and functional as each individual member of the family. When one family member is suffering from emotional or mental health issues, it directly affects the well-being of the entire family. Conflicts between family members can be complex and emotionally charged. If recent life changes, parenting challenges, emotional disorders, or behavior problems are straining relationships within the family, professional treatment could be extremely beneficial.
Family therapy is a chance for family members to connect and work through problems, strengthen communication, reenergize relationships, or heal past wounds. During the typical family-therapy session, each family member is given a chance to process thoughts, feelings, and perspectives with the other members of the family. Families work to address and resolve conflicts and break the pattern of maladaptive communication styles. As unhealthy patterns of interaction are discovered and addressed, new healthier patterns emerge and become integrated into the family’s functioning. As the process unfolds, family members gain a deeper understanding of themselves and the other members of their family. Our goal is to help families heal and grow and improve the quality of their family life.
